Aimee works between Denver, Colorado and Tijuana, Mexico. She is happiest while painting on roller skates with good music.
Aimee was born in Denver, Colorado around 1972, give or take. She moved around between Florida, Texas, Arizona, Washington, and California before settling in Tijuana, Mexico for 20 years.
As an experimental artist, Aimee dabbled with art courses throughout prep school. She practiced photography, batik, jewelry and paint and then stepped away for thirty years.
Now, she strives to keep curiosity as the leading driver for her artwork. She began playing again on a whim while visiting a mom and pop art store in Mexico.
She bought a watercolor palette, paper and brushes and then put them in the closet for a year.
When the rest of the world started panicking about the Pandemic, Aimee went through the closet and pulled out puzzles and paints to keep her hands busy while listening to podcasts.
Those new tools gave her peace and quiet through strange times. She started with simple zen meditation doodling and then progressed to her first series.
In the "Bubbly" and "Duet" watercolor series, Aimee was striving to see where canvas, cold press paper and newly gifted paint brushes would interact with her various colors.
This phase of study resulted in valuable lessons around hues, value and color variations.
Like 35mm photography, Aimee loves the anticipated effect of watercolors drying to a different perspective. She loves how the mystery of the bloom can be unpredictable, making each pool of water a new possibility.
The challenges presented in these first themes have inspired Aimee to test drive more materials in the future.
